After a video of an army officer assaulting SpiceJet employees at Srinagar Airport went viral on social media, the Indian Army issued a statement assuring full cooperation with authorities investigating the incident. The PRO (Defence) Srinagar on Sunday said that the Army had taken cognisance of the matter and was "committed to upholding the highest standards of discipline and conduct." The senior officer, who was scheduled to board a flight to Delhi on July 26, allegedly assaulted four airline ground staff, leaving one employee with a spinal fracture.
"The matter involving an alleged altercation between an Army personnel and airline staff at Srinagar Airport on 26 July 2025 has come to the notice of the Indian Army. The Indian Army is committed to uphold highest standards of discipline and conduct and takes all allegations seriously. Full cooperation is being extended to the authorities in investigating the case," the PRO (Defence) Srinagar said.
Video clips of the incident shared on social media show the passenger assaulting SpiceJet staff, with one employee being struck with a queue stand at the airport. The altercation reportedly began after airline staff asked him to pay for excess baggage.
