dex News :-

Chief Adviser and Chairman of National Consensus Commission Prof Muhammad Yunus today expressed satisfaction over the progress of the ongoing reform talks between the commission and political parties.

Yunus conveyed his optimism that the commission will be able to formulate a national charter within the expected timeframe, given the current pace of progress.

He shared his remarks during a meeting with commission members at his official residence state guest house Jamuna tonight.

"As Professor Dr Yunus is the head of the commission, he wanted to be briefed on the progress of the dialogues, including the major areas of agreement and disagreement with political parties. After hearing our updates, he expressed satisfaction with the way the discussions are moving forward," Prof Ali Riaz, vice chairman of the Commission, told The Daily Star following the meeting.

Prof Riaz said that the commission informed the chief adviser about the unresolved issues and the reasoning provided by political parties for their positions on key points of contention.

"We briefed him on the ongoing issues that are still under negotiation. The chief adviser listened attentively and acknowledged the complexity of the matters," he added.

The commission also informed Yunus that they would need to make a decision regarding the formation of a bicameral legislature, as political parties had entrusted the commission with the authority to make a final call on the matter.
